Ever since I first met spa director Pat Makozak many years ago at the Four Seasons Spa in Maui, I knew she took her job seriously. Not only is she physically the best advertisement for the benefits of her spa treatments, she is on a mission to deliver the latest and greatest to her clients.  Part ambassador for the Island of Maui, a mecca of wellness and healing, and part ambassador for the Four Seasons, a brand representing luxury and high expectations, Makozak creates the ideal balance. Her clientele do not suffer false claims or time wasted on treatments with no results. Hence, through the years in her role, Makozak has created a loyal local following as well as dedicated return visitors. Known for her commitment to innovation, continuous introduction of new results-oriented wellness services and products, and hiring high caliber therapists, Makozak’s facility has received many awards through the years. The spa features three outdoor Hawaiian treatment hales overlooking Wailea Beach, in addition to world-class spa facilities on the ground floor near the fountain pool. Treatments range from a 50-minute traditional massage ($175) to i-LIPO cold-laser body contouring ($450). The Spa also recently added cosmetic aesthetics to its comprehensive list of offerings.

For guests of the hotels, as well as locals, the spa has created a Wellness Your Way program, which is a personalized wellness program created for each guest under the guidance of Dr. Mark Emerson, a nutritionist and Doctor of Chiropractic. Whether the guest wants to jump start a weight loss program, get to the bottom of a sleep issue, or partake in the medical spa offerings, Dr. Emerson will do an extensive analysis of the guest’s health before getting started. As an added bonus to the Wellness Your Way program, Executive Chef Craig Dryhurst has created healthy meal options throughout the resort’s restaurants, including vegan offerings.

E Ola Hau Hawaiian Healing Wrap - 110 minutes: $360

This ultimate island tradition begins by exfoliating the skin with a pineapple-papaya polish. Then, healing Hawaiian noni gel soothes your body as your therapist wraps you in warm tī leaves.
