One of the most popular beach destinations in the entire state of Hawaii, Kaanapali Resort on Maui’s West side has an abundance of lodging options. With five resorts and more than six condo/vacation clubs there are thousands of pillows to choose from. Considering a room here starts at $250 a night on up, and you might need two to accommodate your family, I wanted to narrow down your choices. My criteria was a pool the kids would consider “awesome,”  Easy access to the beach and a layout of the property that makes it easy for kids to cruise on their own, get a smoothie from the bar and find mom or dad at the designated lounge chair by the pool. You can expect to pay from $250-$500 on up for a room, so I want While I’d like to book for you, I understand it’s easier to just ‘get it done’ if you click the link, you will be connected to my 'best deal' Priceline page and be sure to put in the dates you are looking and how many people in your party for before you click ‘search.’  Also if you are looking for package deals, scroll to this widget at the bottom of the home page and add your information. Be sure to use OGG or Kahului airport for flights to Maui.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

Hyatt Maui is a great hotel for families for many reasons - however the most obvious is the 750,000-gallon pool complex with a 150 foot lava-tube slide, grotto, sandy entrance, and waterfalls. The on-site, Drums of the Pacific luau is one of the best on the island, an astrology tour and the property is home to dozens of exoctic birds. There is a maximum of four to a room, however if yReou have five in your group, you can usually get a manager’s approval for a roll away bed, for a fee. My latest price search rooms started at $380.

Westin Maui Resort and Spa

Westin Maui Resort and Spa is situated right in the heart of Kaanapali Beach Resort. T his oceanfront property features 731 room and 28 suites located in two 11-story towers. The kids will love the pools and slide and if the family is interested in surf lessons, the resort is right next to the best surf spot on the beach. The wellness-focused property offers New Balance shoe rentals for five dollars (they give you new socks, and inserts), healthy meal options at all the restaurants. The three-mile Kaanapali beach fronting the property is also great for boogie boarding, snorkeling and swimming. Mom and dad will appreciate the adult only pool with sweeping views of the ocean and for a true escape the Heavenly Spa offers unique treatments and a view of the ocean. Great discounts here for AAA and Starwood members.

Honua Kai

My girls loved staying at the Honua Kai Resort and Spa last year. Situated on the northern edge of Ka’anapali, the two towers are set on 38 beachfront acres were built in 2009, making it one of the newest properties in Ka’anapali. The resort offers three pools, with slides, a lazy river, hot tubs and a sandy area ideal for little ones. While most of the suites are privately owned (still a few for sale) most are available as hotel rooms. Because the units were built as second homes, each is well appointed with amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible including; a fully equipped hi-end kitchen, a washer and dryer, a bathroom attached to each room, comfortable and spacious living areas and generous outdoor living space.
