Back in 1993, Giovanni's Shrimp Truck a 1953-era, bread truck, was the first to of it's kind in the North Shore of Oahu. Now there are dozens lining they highways, and Giovanni's is so popular, it's an actual tour bus destination. Serving up award-winning (Scampi and Spicy & Hot) shrimp with two scoops rice, Giovanni's now has two permanently parked trucks, one at 56-505 Kamehameha Hwy, about 15 minutes north of Turtle Bay Resort, and then another across from the McDonalds in Haleiwa at 66-472 Kamehameha Hwy. Vibe: Confusion. Wait is it really this simple, just order from the limited menu - scope out a seat and wait. Yes it is, but because of the various languages spoken by the dozens to hundreds of tourists dining here at any given moment, one might feel overwhelmed by the chaos. However, everyone does get a seat and everyone eventually gets their meal. Shrimp Scampi, $13, Hot & Spicy, $13, Lemon butter, $13 (a dozen shrimp over two scoops of white rice) or a jumbo garlic hot dog, $3.50.
