Red Salt Restaurant at Koa Kea Hotel

A highlight of our Poipu adventure was dinner at Red Salt. Being from Marin County, we are spoiled when it comes to excellent restaurants and I did not expect to find a-hold-my-hand this is so good meal in Poipu. For only three of us, we managed to order a variety of dishes starting with their signature poke, a small dish and great to share. The beet salad would have been fine as a meal, fresh beets from the nearby Kalaheo served with farm greens from Kailani Farms and tangy goat cheese. The ono was ONO! especially the lobster/potato hash and both of my daughters LOVED the Kaua‘i Shrimp Carbonara Linguine (ideal to share). The Vibe: Fun! We could have been in a trendy restaurant in San Francisco there was a definite buzz in the room. The staff was friendly, informative and really seemed to care about our experience, our waiter even gave us some great tips on where to hike the next day.

The Menu: Sophisticated sustainable seafood and artisan meats.

What not to miss: Sounds simple, but the warm whole wheat bread served with butter and red salt could have been my meal (with my cucumber, vodka cocktail), it was a delicious way to enjoy the signature 'red salt.'
